About Light Therapy
What is Light Therapy?
Light therapy may be referred to as red light therapy, photonic therapy, red light torch, cold laser therapy, low level light therapy, and phototherapy. While it has been referred to as a variety of names over the years scientific research now refers to it as Photobiomodulation (PBM). When living tissue ages, it becomes deficient in electrons to properly power the cells. When we shine specific wavelengths of light on the body, it penetrates deeply enough to provide these electrons (in the form of photons) directly to the cells. Thus, triggering a series of bio-chemical reactions. There are several benefits of light. Some of the most common are:
-
Decreasing Pain
-
Increasing Circulation
-
Speading Healing
-
Activating Acupoints
-
Weight Loss
-
Depression
-
Skin Improvement
-
Reducing wrinkles, scars, redness and Acne
How does light therapy work?
While there are several ways to admimister red light therapy we focus on low level light therapy. Red light therapy acts on the Mitochondria in your body. With more energy, other cells can do their work more efficiently. Those include repairing skin, boosting new cell growth or enhancing skin rejuvenation.
Light must be absorbed to produce a biological response. Light in the Red and near-Infrared range are absorbed about 4-5mm in depth, reaching muscle and bone. This triggers a large number of biochemical processes known as photobiomodulation. Photobiomodulation is an increase in the cells energy to repair and replace themselves. When the individual packets of light (photons) are absorbed in a cell, they trigger an increase in cellular respiration. This is the process that creates ATP- the energy needed for life.
Light Therapy Services
Red Light Therapy-
Helps with muscle recovery, inflammation, joint pain, sleep, collagen production, anti aging and more. Red light wavelengths stimulate the mitochondria in your cells, the powerhouses responsible for taking light, oxygen, and the food we eat and turning it into usable energy for our bodies through the process of cellular respiration.

Chromotherapy
Chromotherapy is the method of treating ailments through the use of visible wavelengths (color).
The most common colors used for therapeutic purposes are:
*Infrared - 700nm to 1000nm- penetrates up to 100mm deep. Mostly used for stimulating healing and relieving pain. Infrared light is part of the sun's safe and invisible light spectrum that can penetrate human tissue and infuse multiple health benefits, such as healing, detoxing, burning calories, toning and skin tightening, body contouring, relaxation, and much more. Our infrared pods and Infrared sauna are preprogrammed with a variety of health benefits to choose from.
*Red - 630nm to 700nm - penetrates up to 8-10 mm deep. It can increase energy, improve skin conditions, and decrease pain, and inflammation. Increases energy production in cells. Encourages the production of elastin, collagen, and fibroblasts. Softens lines and wrinkles. Speeds up the healing process in the skin. Reduces age spots and sun damage by stimulating cellular activity.
*Blue - 405nm to 470nm - penetrates up to 2-3mm deep. Mostly used for skin conditions and wound healing due to its antibacterial effects. The results from studies of blue light imply that light therapy prompts healing elements to flood the area and begin the healing process, including sending white blood cells to align with new blood flow to target infection. Thus reducing inflammation as repair is taking place. It can help calm headaches, diminish existing acne, prevent breakouts, calm skin, and achieve brighter and clearer skin.
Blue light is often recommended for clients with Seasonal Affective Disorder(SAD). It is believed to work by its effect on brain chemicals that play a role in regulating mood. It can help restore the circadian rhythm.
*Green - 520nm to 560 nm - very shallow penetration. Used for skin brightening, sensory pain, calming, and emotional healing. Calms the skin with anti-inflammatory properties, improves hyperpigmentation, stimulates nutrient uptake into the skin, repairs damage to the skin, relieves mental stress, and minimizes sun spots.
*Yellow - Individuals with sensitive skin will benefit from the shooting and calming effects of yellow light. Yellow light helps with solutions for skin conditions such as UV radiation damage, rosacea, flushing, redness, and inflammation. Yellow light enhances immunity, promotes lymphatic drainage, treats sunburn, improves hyperpigmentation, and reduces the appearance of redness, inflammation, and swelling.
*Orange - Orange light helps increase energy production in cells and accelerate metabolism. It also helps restore glow to dull skin. Orange light revitalizes the skin, adds luminosity and brightness, and brings out a natural glow.
Can stimulate thinking and uplift emotions: increased energy levels and enhanced mood.
*Purple - Purple light is a combination of blue and red light. The main function of purple light is to increase cell regeneration. Infrared rays penetrate deep into the skin to promote healing and relieve deep muscular or joint pain. Combining the benefits of red light and blue light supports the treatment of acne and anti-bacterial effects while stimulating collagen production to treat lines and wrinkles. Purple light helps improve skin color, reduces redness and signs of aging, improves the appearance of stretch marks, and repairs sun damage.
Has been shown to help with existing pain, such as fibromyalgia.

Chromotherapy is proven to help with mood, circulation, depression, pain, anxiety, lower cortisol, and much more. Our chromotherapy pods are preprogrammed for various health benefits for you to choose from.
How do I know which service to book?
There are studies that show benefits from all wavelengths (colors) in the visible spectrum up into the near-infrared spectrum. Studies show that light in the mid-600nm range and low- to mid-800nm range is most effective for pain and deep tissue regeneration because they have the highest absorption rate. Our sessions are pre-set in a way that will make it easy for you to choose which service best fits your needs. Our Certified Light Therapists will be happy to assist you as well. Don't be afraid to ask. That's what we are here for.
